- Find the Niwot Ridge LTER on-line data system on the internet. Look for the Data Set Catalog, and go to the "Hydrology and
Geomorphology" section and find the data for "Snow Cover Profiles: Snow Water Equivalence".
For all dates that the 006 snowpit (located at the Niwot Ridge Saddle) was sampled in 2000 create a table
with the following(including units):
- Date
- Snow Depth
- Mean Temperature
- Mean Density
- Snow Water Equivalent
- Using the data in your table, answer the following questions
- On what date was the snowpack the coldest?
- On what date did the snowpack become isothermal (reach an average temperature of 0 Deg C)? Did the snowpack remain isothermal?
- On what date did the snowpack have the highest water equivalent? Did this correspond to the
date on which the snowpack was deepest? Briefly explain.
