rime is apparent, and sometimes only an amorphous blob is evident.
Rimed crystal growth in the atmosphere is rapid as the adhesion
efficiency of supercooled water droplets on an ice or snow crystal is
100%. These water droplets manage to stay in the liquid phase at
temperatures well below the freezing point due to a lack of atmospheric
nucleating agents.
