About the class:

This internship program is designed to provide students with real-world experience in snow hydrology. Once-a-week, students ski to the field site on Niwot Ridge. There, students dig a snowpit and measure the following parameters: snow depth, density, temperature, grain size, and grain type. Additionally, students help with other research projects that are ongoing on Niwot Ridge. The ski-in to Niwot Ridge is 4 miles with 2,000 feet of elevation gain from the Mountain Research Station. Students must provide their own equipment and transportation.
