Drilling the ice core by hand.
We first dug a snowpit to a depth of 2 meters,
at which point the snow was too dense to dig.
We placed a small casing pipe into the snow at the bottom
of the snow pit.
We then shoved the drill into the casing pipe and turned
the drill by hand.
